CEF Banquets

“The Word of God is quick and powerful” That was the truth that was reaffirmed at the Cleveland County C.E.F Banquet. The theme was “Bloom where you are planted”.  Three people shared their experiences with the Good News Clubs.

One of the speakers is from Columbia, South America but has lived in America for 14 years.  Her oldest son first heard Bible stories at a daycare in Rutherford County on Good News Club days, would always come home and share the story with his mother and father.  They enjoyed this so much because they were new Christians! When their son went to elementary school, GNC was there too, so she enrolled him there too and together they continued learning in the English language.  Three of her children are still enrolled in Good News Clubs! How exciting to see how her entire family has been blessed through this ministry!

The second speaker is not only a Spanish teacher at a local college, but also has two of her children currently enrolled in GNC!  Her children are enrolled in a GNC in Cleveland County, and she spoke on how their favorite thing to do on GNC is to come home and share not only the Bible verses, but also their meaning!

The last speaker is actually a Good News student! He is currently in the 5th grade at a school in Cleveland County and has been in the GNC for five years! Speaking with wisdom beyond his years, he wished that more parents would encourage their children to come to club.

Praise God for allowing the Good News Clubs in public school! Volunteers-Listen up! YOU are important! In 1st Corinthians, the Bible says “He who waters and plants are one. We are fellow workers. You are God’s building”  Thank you for your help in building up the lives of the children with the Word of God.

God bless you for your part in CEF.  Together we are planting seeds, for the harvest is coming soon.

2015-01-04_21.02.58We want to welcome a new volunteer secretary, Diane Lovelace! Diane lives in Shelby and has three daughters, Kaitlin, Kiffie and Kailey. Diane has been a great help at the office, you can find her doing anything from scheduling meetings to helping with banquet planning. We are very thankful for her hard work.

2014-2015 Enrollment

This year we have 40 after school Good News Clubs with 2,022 students enrolled, 216 of those making professions of faith since September and 7 that we know of starting to attend church. We have 1 YMCA club with 23 students enrolled, as well as 4 Preschool Good News Clubs with 45 students enrolled. That’s a total of 2,090 students being reached weekly! How exciting! We also set up at 3 fairs, sharing Jesus by making Gospel bracelets, reaching 1,319 people with 28 people making professions of faith! All this is made possible through God and the doors He has opened as well as the hard work of our staff, committee and 300 wonderful volunteers!

Our Challenge!

We have been given an AWESOME challenge, one that we have chosen to accept! Our chapter has the most number of Good News Clubs in all of NC! We have some great churches that we partner with to accomplish reaching over 1,600 children weekly with the Gospel! However, it takes financial support to make this happen.

A Good News Club takes approximately $1,000 a school year to operate including curriculum, materials, devotionals, training for workers and background checks for workers. At the beginning of this school year we had 9 schools whose church sponsors didn’t have the necessary funds to operate their Good News Clubs. We went ahead and opened those Good News Clubs on faith that God would provide. We have a donor that has said they will match any donations that come into the chapter between now and the end of this January! Which means every dollar that comes in will be doubled! This is an answer to prayer because the chapter is struggling to cover the costs of these unfunded Good News Clubs and were thinking we may have to close some of the Good News clubs down that were not funded. As you can imagine this is a pretty devastating thought for us.

Now we have the chance to have the costs of these Good News Clubs covered! WIll you consider a donation to the Foothills chapter so that we can have our donor match those funds? If you would like to participate in this challenge you can do so by writing a check and in the memo line put “fund match” and mail it to CEF PO Box 797 Boiling Springs NC 28017. Thank you for taking the time to prayerfully consider helping us share the Gospel! So far $12,695.25 has been raised toward our goal!!
